This is a major festival of Rajasthan and its purpose is to celebrate the arrival of spring season. The whole city gathers to dress the idols of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in processions to various parts of the city till they reach the Gangaurghat at Lake Pichola.

During the festival, the whole of Udaipur is lit up with lights and colors. The women there can be seen dressed in their best colorful and ethnic outfits. After the ceremonies are finished, the whole city involves in dances and processions, singing folk songs and exquisitely promoting their culture and all this is concluded with splendid fireworks.

Having a tropical climate, Udaipur is generally really hot in summers. The best time to visit Udaipur is in the winters, preferably September to March.

Udaipur flights connect Udaipur to almost all the prime cities. Dabok airport, also called MaharanaPratap Airport is situated around 24km from the city center. Daily flights are available from Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur.
