Jaipur: The Paris of India

Capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur proudly stands as the largest city in the state. It is also known as the Pink City or the Paris of India. Very picturesque, with numerous forts and palaces, this has been the city preferred by the royals. The sights to see are proof of that:

City Palace: The elegance of this place makes it easy to believe that the Rajasthan royal family was once one of the most opulent in the country. A section of the palace has also been converted into a museum where you can see a display of royal clothing and weapons.

Hawa Mahal: The name literally translates to ‘Palace of Winds’ and visiting this place proves why it is called so. Five stories with small windows and screens in rows allow the wind to roam freely in it. It was meant for the women of the royal household to watch the streets below, unobserved.

Amber Fort and Palace: A little away from the city centre, this was the original home of the Rajput loyalty, before the construction of Jaipur city. On a hilltop, it allows for a great view of the Maota lake.

And of course, if you’re doing the royal tour, it would be incomplete without travelling on the royal trains of Rajasthan, namely the Palace on Wheels, The Royal Orient Train, The Fairy Queen, The Heritage on Wheels and The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels. These luxury trains were used by the royal families and are reminiscent of their luxury and opulence.

Jaipur is a fabulous city, a photographer’s paradise, and it literally takes your breath away. A city in a desert couldn’t have been more beautiful. A Jaipur flight would be a great way to start the incredible journey exploring this royal city.
