10 things to do in Dubai

Part of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a global city and while the oil industry was once its only, if not the major source of economy, it now flourishes in industries such as tourism, real estate and financial services. You will surely be lured into this city’s amazing net of things to see and do.

 1. The Dubai Mall: This is the city of shopping malls. Everyone speaks about “Dubai shopping” and people fly in from all over the world to shop here, so you know it must be good. The Dubai mall is one where the words “seeing is believing” hold true. It is massive and has just about everything for everyone. Definitely worth a visit.

2. Burj Khalifa: The tallest structure in the world, this is one marvel not to be missed. Make sure to get a good view of the city from the 134th floor, and feel like you’re on the wing of an aeroplane.

3. Mall of the Emirates: It’s hard to imagine a ski resort in a desert, but what the people of Dubai may very well be saying is “Here you go!” because there it is.

4. Wild Wadi Water Park: For those who love water slides, artificial surfing and wave pools, a perfect destination is available in Dubai. Entertainment for people of all ages, this water park located on Jumeirah beach hosts about 30 different attractions and rides.

5. Dubai fountains: If you thought the fountains at Bellagio in Las Vegas were amazing, wait until you see the Dubai musical fountains - they dance beautifully to the tunes that are played, with water jets shooting water up to even 500 feet high.

6. The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve: Set up in efforts to conserve the natural inland desert ecosystem of Dubai, it hosts about 57 plant species, over 120 birds and 43 mammals and reptiles.

7. Dolphin Bay: An encounter with dolphins is one you’ll never forget at this lovely dolphin habitat.

8. Dubai aquarium and underwater zoo: A place where children can really let loose and learn at the same time.

10. Jumeirah mosque: This is unique in that other than being the largest mosque in Dubai, it is the only one that allows non-Muslims to enter.
